This is for Carolyn

made another t-shirt, originally uploaded by super eggplant.

My sole reader was bugging me about not blogging, so here you go, Carolyn! So, I don’t know about you, but I am always searching for the Perfect T-shirt Fit (TM). Unfortunately, I can be a bit finicky, and what is perfect one day may not be so perfect the next. Anyway, I decided I needed a comfy, not-super-fitted T-shirt, so I made a pattern based on a T-shirt I have that I really like. I used some leftover fabric (some cotton blend) and used the flatlock on my serger, and voila. The shoulders are actually a bit big, so I sized the pattern down a little bit for the next attempt.

I got a new sewing machine–an industrial machine by Sailrite–so my jeans experimentation should continue if I am not too lazy.

is the red done via piping???

  7. Seanna Lea says:

Heh, maybe your one reader can get together with my one reader and we would then have possibly two readers.

I’m assuming that the red is the color you had in the serger during that section, but one of the other readers said piping. Now I’m curious (and still afraid of the serger).

Clearly you are more popular than you think!

I hit up the SF Uniqlo pop-up store this weekend and got a pair of the super stretch skinny jeans. Took advantage of the free hemming and got them done a bit long despite the sales lady saying they were “pre-shrunk”. The inseam shrank about 6-10 mm after cold wash and low dry, plus added some distress lines at the cuff.

Another fan! I learned how to make pillowcases and tote bags from you, and I always enjoy your posting! I check in every so often, but now for some reason I can’t look at work, so not QUITE as often as I used to. OH ALSO, santa’s surprise cookies were amazing, grilled pizza, the momofuku milk bar cookies – the list is quite large! I intend on making those pink frosted cookies too sometime. Keep posting! 🙂

Enjoy your blog thoroughly! I started out sewing my own clothes 30+ years ago and over time migrated to mostly soft furnishings for the home and short run productions for other makers. Your blog has inspired me to get back into sewing for myself…..LOrd knows I could use a wardrobe update!

I also have been thinking about a Sailrite machine…how do you like sewing with it so far?
