Sorry for my extended absence. Right when I got caught up on the superbuzzy<\/a> packages, I got the nasty cold that’s been going around, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Today I had a coughing attack so severe I was convinced I was going to throw up (I was actually gagging because of the force of the cough).
\nHave I ever discussed my collection of Japanese tins? Those Japanese, they are really into souvenirs and the giving of gifts and over-the-top packaging, so you can just imagine what this means for the decorative tin industry. I have a small collection, mostly hand-me-downs from my mother. The tins once held cookies (hello, Yoku Moku<\/a>) or rice crackers or chocolates. I was too lazy to photograph them all (and really, they’re not that exciting), but I did photograph my latest acquisition, and I think it is quite appropriate for Valentine’s Day.

\"lovers<\/a><\/center>Lovers’ Lane! These held chocolate delicacies from Sapporo. I like how the tin tells you exactly what the sweets are like: “incredibly smooth” and “deeply satisfying.” Here’s a closeup of a particularly interesting phrase:
