marshmallow happiness

We are going to the beach for a hot dog roast tomorrow, and I am in charge of bringing s’more fixings, so I made some marshmallows. I used Martha Stewart’s recipe, which I have made before. It’s basically an intense workout for the Kitchen Aid: marshmallow mixing.jpg
The worst part is cutting them out because powdered sugar flies around everywhere. That will come tomorrow after the marshmallows sit overnight, behaving themselves: marshmallow.jpg
Some other things happened today. Peter rented a pressure washer and spent the entire day blasting the old paint off the house to prepare it for painting. Unfortunately, white peeling paint chips are now canvassing the entire neighborhood. It’s in our neighbors’ yards, on their roofs, everywhere.
AND, I got an early birthday present from Peter! Voila: ice cream maker.jpg
An ice cream maker! It’s sitting in the freezer now, readying itself. I can’t decide which flavor I should make first. My inclination would be green tea, but Peter doesn’t like green tea, so that’d be kind of mean, wouldn’t it?
Another thing–Peter accidentally knocked my digicam to the ground, and now the door that holds in the batteries is busted. I can press it closed, and it still works, but it is a bit awkward. I guess this is as good a reason as any to get a new digicam?
Must go knit now …

hey, I have that mixer in the exact same color (I’m sure you’re excited to know that, right? hee hee)
Those marshmallows look really yummy–maybe I will have to make some (like today!)

Did you make the marshmallows?!? They are a bit messy but quite fun, and people are always amazed and impressed (maybe I am reading too much into it) with homemade marshmallows. You can also pipe the marshmallow mixture into shapes (you can make your own Peeps, for example). Good luck!
