are you aware?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and there is so much good pink stuff out there for sale I can hardly stand it. Cancer-killing Megan is completely obsessed with it all! Since I’m going to see her in a couple of days, I whipped up these mittenettes:

I was inspired by Chris, who made some very cute pink ribbon wristbands. Of course, I couldn’t find any of the light pink Cotton Ease, so I went with some cheapo TLC acrylic stuff. I had a lot of trouble with the ribbon part. It kept looking weird, and it kind of still does, but it’s better than the earlier attempts, let me tell you. And yes, I realize that one mittenette is bigger than the other. They are supposed to be the same size, but I am clearly a spastic knitter. Let’s hope Megan’s left hand is plumper than her right.
If you like pink and like to shop, it’s easy to support breast cancer research. Many stores are offering pink goodies for sale, with significant chunks of the proceeds going to breast cancer research. Target has some nice items, and for many of them, they will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

    Hello,
I was just curious if you (or anyone) know of any pink or pink ribbon knit-alongs in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. If not, anyone interested (hope you don’t mind me asking this on your blog – no one would find it on mine 😉 anyone can email me from my blog if they want)? It’s a bit late to be getting started, I guess, but really something we should think about all year long.
    Thanks!

Great mittenettes! (Plus I like saying “mittenettes.”) I did see a pink ribbon chart on a blog somewhere, but I can’t remember where that was.

Aww – those are really cute! I didn’t even notice one was bigger til you mentioned it. :p

I just wanted to follow-up…I searched and couldn’t find any knit-alongs for Breast Cancer Awareness, although a fair number of knitters have knitted things in honor of it. If anyone is interested, here it is.

I love the pink mittenettes! It’s awsome that you knit them to support breast cancer awareness. Did you design the graph yourself? What a great idea. ^_^

I just noticed that link to the breast cancer ribbon graph designs. ^_^ Excellent. I may have to try to make something.
