super socks

I got my socks! I got my socks!

I was lucky enough to be allowed to participate in a little sock swap with some major league sock knitters. Thank goodness for affirmative action (socks are not my forte). As you can see, the candy-colored socks I received are splendiferous. They were knit by ace sock knitter Theresa. She also sent along some Frango chocolates!
There’s going to be some baking happening Friday. I suspect others will be baking and cooking as well? Whatcha all making?

Yow! Cool socks. Love the ruffley cuff. We are making the family recipes for cookies, one kind which is called “the ones with the powdered sugar on top”, another kind called “the chocolate ones,” and of course “the pecan ones.” All three have been present at every Christmas of my life and are deeelicious.
Did you know that your blog was in an article about good food blogs! I am back in my hometown (Madison Wisc) for Xmas and picked up the local free weekly (Isthmus) today… and the food column had a little review of your blog (with quotes) right there in it. You’re a superstar now…at least in Madison!

Very cool socks! I love the colors . . .
I just finished squishing (cooled) baked sweet potatoes out of their skins so that tomorrow I can put together a sweet potato thing (it’s kind of like an apple crisp, but with sweet taters?). I’m also making my now-famous-in-Hub’s-family corn casserole, which is easy peasey. That’ll go together on Saturday morning!

Will be making the traditional Matthes kids family sugar cookies decorated with masses of icing/candies/sprinkles. Complete sugar rush and worth the yearly wait 😉

Merry Christmas!

Baking? I wish. I’m at work. All day, since I have stuff to finish before I leave on my vacation tomorrow night. Though I guess I’d have to finish up any baked goods before leaving, so it’s probably better for my tummy this way.
Wonderful socks! I love how Theresa got the stripes to line up on the heel.
