another reason to move to Portland

They’re going to open a Penzey‘s there (at least I hope they meant Oregon and not Maine … ).

OMG. Are you serious? With Penzey’s coming in, I’ll be in heaven!

  2. Wassa Penzeys?
Don’t you know buddhaheads don’t eat spicy food?

  3. Christiane says:

That IS almost enough reason to move to Portland. I just placed a mondo-order with them last night!

  4. claudia says:

One’s coming to Boston, I hear. Even a relatively non-cook like me is happy.

  5. Heidi says:

    Oh yeah!
Penzeys is on my to-do list for this weekend. I really want to try their Bangkok seasoning…the noodle recipe in the latest catalog looks very tasty.
If you need anything let me know! :)

  6. Kristen says:

oh goodness – I’ve never heard of them before, but have often been disappointed when I hear things are coming here only to learn they meant the Portland on the other coast! (I’m on the eastern side :) )

  7. Stephanie says:

hee hee hee…no need for me to move, they’re putting one in Phoenix as well :D

  8. Stephanie says:

but on second thought Portland has all those lovely yarn shops….and the farmers market….and lots of non-chain stores….

I’m — 3 miles from a Penzy’s! It’s in Naperville, Ill. I’m in LIsle. I think my mom only drives down to visit because she secretly wants to dash out to Penzeys!

man thanks for the link! i found an awesome chili recipe which will be the perfect thing for my recent cravings. too bad there isn’t a penzey’s in savannah, 2 hours to Jacksonville seems a long way to drive for spices.

  11. Desha says:

We got a Penzey’s over the summer. I think that they know me by name now. Is that a bad sign?

  12. Linda says:

I couldn’t cook without Penzey’s spices. We have one in Madison (Wis.) — the Bavarian mix is incredible on roasted potatoes. I throw Penzey’s mixes willy-nilly into everything. Never misses.

I just started getting their catalog (although I’m not a catalog orderer at all – can’t imagine paying shipping!) I’ll definitly check it out (unless it is the “other” Portland!)
