toasty noro

You probably thought I had forgotten that this blog originally began as a knitblog. Not at all. It’s just that I’ve gotten really slow or something, and I seem to be able to eke out but a few rows per day. I did, however, manage to finally finish my Noro saddle shoulder sweater, and not a moment too soon, cuz it’s been really cold here!

It’s toasty warm! I used the Knitscape software from Artfibers to design the sweater. I was hoping to knit a seamless sweater, but the pattern had me do the body up to the armpits in the round then everything else in separate pieces, which led to a fair amount of seaming. The yarn is Noro Kureyon in color 102, and I used just under 8 skeins, I think (if I had 10 to begin with. I don’t remember).

Hands down the nicest Noro sweater I’ve ever seen. Could be partially that you can pull off wearing those stripes, where so many of us can’t…but even so…lovely!! Love, love, LOVE it!! (Exclamation point!!!)

  2. sharlyn says:

No kidding you’re cold! You have a turtleneck under that sweater too :). Not a bad idea actually…it has been cold.

Wow! Sweater looks great! Don’t you just love Noro? As for seamless sweaters, I’m almost done knitting one for my boyfriend from Zimmerman’s Knitting in Round. There’s a great bottoms up sweater in the round pattern there.

What a beauty of a sweater! Wonderful colors and it looks so warm.

  10. Beautiful sweater! I have done a few seamless sweaters and it is such a treat to not have any sewing when done. And designing your sweater is also quite rewarding. Unfortunately I’d need the whole 10 skeins. You wear it well.

  11. Lisa says:

  12. wyn says:

I have a question, how would you wash the sweater ? I’ve used Noro before, and ruined some armwarmers by washing them cold and drip drying. What do you recommend ?
and yes, the ladies are right – It’s beautiful !

  14. Jenn says:

Very cute sweater in a very Mariko colorway. It has a hint of fruity pebbles (which I adore) but it’s much more grown up–perfect!

It looks so good with the orange turtleneck!! That’s one cute sweater! I like the ribbing around the neckline.

  22. Marg says:

Gawgeous! I absotootally loooove the colours.
BTW, I was watching an old Alfred Hitchcock movie and there was a party scene where they all had to wear silly hats. One of them looked a bit like a cake — I thought of you! The movie was in black and white but I imagine in real life the colour of the hat was quite yummy.

  23. melissa says:

that’s a perfect fit! and the colors are great too.

  24. katie says:

    Hey there
I’ve been looking to purchase knitting design software – how do you like the one you’ve been working with? What are it’s shortfalls? Would you buy it again if you had to choose?
    Thanks!
    😉 AL

At least the bright colors make the gray days more cheerful, no?
