you say tomato

I don’t have much time to do much these days, but I was able to squeeze out a little time to crochet a wee tomato amigurumi.

I found the pattern on a Japanese store site. The PDF is located here. It was not horribly difficult, and I think the little guy turned out pretty cute. Big thanks to Sara for sending me some amigurumi eyes!
I haven’t talked about superbuzzy much lately, but it is buzzing along like crazy and keeps both Kelly and me super busy! I have a bunch of fabric waiting to be unpacked and added to inventory. I opened a few of the boxes, and I think you superbuzzy shoppers will be pretty pleased!

There is something very appealing about yarn and cloth food. Way too cute! (Mariko – do you know which arrow is begin and which is end on the pattern? I know it should be obvious. But it isn’t to me.) Thanks!

    Oh the cuteness!

It would be great to have a bowl of little knitted fruits and vegetables on the counter in the kitchen. No worrying about the fruit going bad!

    Mariko,
For dyeing the eggs, I just used warm water with drops of food coloring. Since the cup I was using wasn’t full, I kept turning the eggs over with my spoon to make sure it got dyed evenly. Then I blotted the excess dye with a paper towel before leaving it to dry.

I’ve been away from computers for a while, so just learned of your father’s passing and wanted to send my condolences.

i’m so sorry to hear about your dad–but i totally understand about the ‘it’s nice when it happens relatively quickly and they are not aware of it’. that is what my mother wishes for herself and my dad. I also wanted to say i LOVE the picture of your dad and the dog. it’s very sweet. :o) i’m going to try to get a pic of my dad and mom with my dog the next time i see them. i hope the Buddhist/memorial service went well and that you and your family stay well too!
    take care. ek.
    p.s. i came here from mdk’s blog.

Glad you were able to put the eyes to good use! THe tomato is adorable. I was even able to make one myself, although I can just barely crochet. Still it’s the only crocheted item that I’ve ever really finished.
