stuffy love

Sock and Glove (Medium).JPG
File this away in the “more stuff I’d like to be making” category. I was pretty excited to receive this review copy, since I am familiar with the original, Japanese version of the book. How genius and crazy is this? Make cute stuff out of old gloves and socks!

The English-language version has a U.S. heft to it, whatever that means. I don’t know, it just feels different from the Japanese version. Still, the patterns are very cute and the instructions very straightforward and clear, complete with nicely photographed details.
Check out this cute birdy you can make with an old sock!

And here is a completed glove dog, made for me a couple years ago by Schmee.

(And yes, Carolyn, I am still planning to make you one. Someday. In a galaxy far, far away. HA HA HA).

Ooh–I guess I should have waited for the English version! Have been struggling with the Japanese directions in my copy.

I found this book at Barnes & Noble this past weekend. So, it is already out! Very cute things. I had seen the Japanese version, but didn’t have it. I snapped up this English version figuring it might also help me with some Japanese books that I do have. Now, I just need to get in there and make some!

Oh but it is so much more fun when you can’t read the directions. Really! (Yes, I really do think so).

I love that pudgy bunny. i am itching to make some of these, but who could i give them to? is there some charity that accepts handmade toys?? (made out of USED SOCKS? I guess there’s no rule against making them out of new socks…)
i guess i could make them as dog toys but we have enough problems with the one dog who goes gaga for my husband’s socks.

The little red bird is adorable. I added the book to my wishlist.
