Cotton Time!

This summer has been much cooler than last summer, so it hasn’t been necessary to wear sleeveless tops much. Little cap sleeve deals, though, are just the ticket! So before things went from crazy busy to super crazy busy, I found a minute to make a new summer top from the summer issue of Cotton Time.

I was going to make it out of one of the double gauze fabrics we have at superbuzzy, but I decided I should just dig something out of my stash in case the pattern didn’t work out. The top has a little bit of embroidery on it, though you can’t really see it, and the sleeves have a cute little bias tape edging. The neck is more open than I am accustomed to, but overall I like the pattern quite a bit. The pattern only comes in one size, and I didn’t have to make any adjustments (I know that sounds really obnoxious, but hey, these are my people, so it worked out). I’m going to try it out with double gauze next!

that’s a really cute blouse – i like it a lot, and i think i can probably wear something like that now that i’ve managed to lose some weight…it’s interesting you mentioning about it being cooler because here in hawaii i feel it’s cooler cause at night i actually use a blanket and in the early morning there’s a slight chill – i keep waiting for the summer heat….btw, what are those holes in the wall behind you?

Wow – that looks great. You’re right about the weather, it just hasn’t felt quite like summer lately!

It doesn’t feel like summer up here in Seattle either. Very cool and breezy during the day. Cute top, BTW.

    It looks lovely!
PS. I finally got a hold of the Crafter’s Companion today and have read your section – very inspiring!

you must be confusing that with statements like “i always get gauge” which ARE obnoxious whereas “i didn’t have to alter the pattern” just means “IT FITS.” and it’s cute!

  6. so very cute! i wish i could sew clothing…

oh my. i love that top! i get so excited when i see other bloggers making clothes. i picked up some japanese pattern books when i was in portland in june, but i haven’t tried out any of the patterns yet. they’re kind of all jammed together on the page, and it looks a bit overwhelming!
i just got my first super buzzy order today, and i have it sitting in a pile in front of me. i keep looking at it and smiling. i think it’s really cool that you started that website, and i’m so grateful!

Your blouse looks comfortable! I’m glad you mention you will make one in a gauze next time, maybe something from SuperBuzzy? I’ve been looking at all the new fabrics, liking them very much, but not knowing what they might be suitable for exactly. You do have some suggestions posted, but it is nice to see an example of what someone has done with the fabric too.
