death by croissant

I know it’s impossible, but I feel like I have a croissant allergy. I had one this morning, and shortly after eating it, my head started to hurt, and I felt really cruddy and had to take a nap. All day I have felt icky. The last time I ate a croissant was the day I left Portland, and, well, let’s just say I left the croissant behind in Portland.
Yesterday I met an alpaca farmer. She is quite obsessed with alpacas (and with figure skating, but that is another story). I bought a couple of little skeins of alpaca yarn from her. She is trying to convince me that spinning is a hobby I cannot live without.

Alpaca figure skating? Watch that woman.
How strange about the croissants–maybe it’s the extreme amount of butter?

  2. claudia says:

Alpaca-girl is right….spinning is indeed a hobby you cannot live without. Just ask Kerstin…;-)

  3. yoko says:

Oh, I would love to learn how to spin yarn!
I’ve finished my second bucket hat, by the way. Getting closer!

  4. carolyn says:

watch out – if kerstin and claudia come your way, you’ll be hooked… p.s. sounds like the croissants are out to get you!!

  5. kerrie says:

croissant alergy wouldn’t be good. I think in the interests of science you should eat another one. See what happens! ITs the only way to know…

Spinning does look fun, but I’ve been able to resist…it’s kind of expensive to get into…I hope the croissant thing is just a coincidence! Maybe they’re just too rich?

  7. sequinK says:

Maybe you just need fresh-out-of-the-oven croissants? The ones from Williams Sonoma (frozen, thaw, pop in oven) — wowie zowie yummy!

Spinning is absolutely a fiberista hobby you cannot live without. Trust me on this. You’ll wonder why you haven’t tried it earlier. Think of all the cool yarns you can make!

  9. Emma says:

She has a point. ! You can make,in theory, any yarn,in any thickness and any colour. How exciting is that ? :0)

  10. Kerstin says:

Spinning will change your life. Hold on, I’ll come out and show you. I just bought The Perfect Road Trip Vehicle. The only way to test it is to travel cross country, don’t you think? 🙂
    P.S. Seriously, can’t you just envision “Yarns by Mariko” . . . ?

  11. Stella says:

YES! Learn spinning! It’s even more groovy and yen like then knitting. It spaces you out.
And the croissants… yes, I bet it’s the extreme amount of butter (yuck) too. I gave them up. Just think of all the miles you have to run to work them off.

  12. Stella says:

aaargh… Zen like not yen like (what am I doing)..
