Meeting Rachael

Yes, I got to meet Rachael today! It was really fun, and she is so charming and great, just as I knew she’d be. She was knitting some socks, and ohmygosh, if there were a speed knitting contest, I’d bet everything on her! She knits SO FAST I couldn’t even see her fingers moving! AND, she doesn’t have to LOOK at her knitting! She was looking at me and talking away as her fingers furiously flew. A m a z i n g. Here we are posing in San Luis Obispo’s “famous” bubble gum alley (which is really quite gross. It would be really awful to stumble and fall into the wall):

The picture makes me happy too! The gum, on the other hand: ew!

  4. kerrie says:

Sounds like you had a great day. Bubblegum alley looks disgusting, you sure wouldn’t want to fall into those walls..

  5. Katherine says:

You guys are both so cute!

I’m with Ann: this picture makes me really happy. Bubblegum alley makes me laugh. Is there some sort of ritual involved–like if you put your gum on the wall at a certain time of day, all your dreams will come true? If two people put their gum together on the wall, they’ll get married?

  7. kathleen says:

cute pic of you and rachael. what fun. the bubble gum is kind of gross though. but interesting, nonetheless…have fun at stitches.

Ooh, I’m so jealous that you got to meet Rachael (of course, I’m equally jealous that Rachael got to meet you). Smiley picture! Yay! Bubble gum alley. Ewww.

The picture of both of you is adorable. But I have to echo everyone else~ the wall is yuck-ola!
Ewww. The germ factor is so disgusting.
What about that sweater Rachael is wearing? Handknit, I presume? Gorgeous!

  11. maggi says:

Oh, aren’t y’all cute! Envy all around. Hey I though of you this morning when I donned my Target IM hoodie — is your pink one pilling much? Mine is . . . but it’s soft and warm~

  12. Amy says:

Geez, that Bubble Gum Alley would have driven the nuns at my parochial school absolutely crazy! You two look cute!

  13. Amy in BC says:

As disgusting as that wall may be close up I would have been miiiighty tempted to add my wad 🙂 Leave my mark so to speak.
I KNEW it!! I knew she must be a speedy knitter despite her protests to the contrary! She is always completing sweaters amazingly fast..
Great shot of the both of you, thanks 🙂

  14. Becky says:

    You two are the cutest!!!
P.S. I’ve been to bubblegum alley, and looked at it from afar. It’s been a while, though. I wonder how much more gum has been placed on there?

  15. Summah says:

Oh hey, I’ve been there! What a riot! You two are very cute. Keep blogging, I love your words. 🙂

  16. Bonne Marie says:

Hmmm – I haven’t seen the Wall in a long time but I prefer to think of the tidbits left as a sort or anthropological Fimo gallery of bubbles well loved and shared.
I believe San Loius is close enough to the ocean so the Salt of the Pacific indirectly sanitizes the gum for your protection…
You guys sure know how to have FUN!

  17. Sonja says:

It’s STILL there? That wall was there 25 years ago! I wonder how much more gum’s been stuck on in that amount of time?
