working on the (daisy) chain gang

I used the new daisy chain method I learned from the proprietor of the bead shop, and though I still need oodles more practice, I did manage to produce this:

I’m not really very good at crafting little tiny, detailed things, so I don’t know why I’ve decided to tackle seed beads, but oh well!
Is there anyone out there in Kansas? Have you tried a Valomilk? They did a piece on them on the Food Network, and boy, do they look good! Chocolate with ooey gooey marshmallow inside. Does it get any better than that?

I’m in Kansas and I have no idea what Valomilk is….?

Hi! I am new to reading your blog, but am enjoying so far everything! I got addicted to seed beading. If you’d like, I can recommend some great sites with patterns to make things like monkeys, penguins, the powerpuff girls, bees, mermaids, pandas, ice cream cones and more! I like to slip them into letters to friends since they are flat, but they’d look nice on a little bracelet.

Mariko – – ever heard of Lamingtons? A co-worker from Australia (where they’re a sinful dessert staple) mentioned them the other day, & I IMMEDIATELY thought of you. Recipe here: http://recipecircus.com/recipes/imd41/ETHNIC/LAMINGTONS_An_Australian_Dessert.html
    Enjoy!

I saw that same Valomilk thing on Unwrapped, and immediately started thinking about how I could get some. Mmmm, marshmallowy, vanilla-y gooeyness… I didn’t use to like the mallows except in s’mores, but lately I’ve grown to appreciate their use in candy. I miss Mallomars too.

That a nice bracelet for a first time try! 🙂

Boy, if it involves chocolate and marshmallow, it has your name all over it! I like the Unwrapped show on Food Network, too. They feature some pretty cool regional foods and treats. Hmmm, I’m getting hungry!

Sweet daisy bracelet, Mariko! And you MUST get in touch with Jenna so you can make seed bead monkeys! Woo-hoo!

I lived in Kansas for two years. Sad to say, at least in my opinion, Valomilks are not as good as they sound. The chocolate part is really waxy, and the inside has this weird inexplicable flavor that to me was somehow not right.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t try it if it was the first time I got one though–I never say no to new kinds of candy!

i’m in missouri but in kansas city, and i have to say that when valomilk is good, it is AMAZING. the marshmallow has this amazing texture — third grade science is coming back to me now and i want to say it’s a colloid — not solid, not liquid. it oozes, yet not too much. ooooh man, now i need one. and i love the chocolate — it’s a bit darker than what you normally get in a supermarket candy bar. my only caveat is that occasionally you will run into one that has sat on the shelf a little too long, and the marsmallow has solidified. at this point, valomilk is still good, but nothing special. it should be oozing for the optimal valomilk experience.
    cheers!
