relieved

How about a little knitting update? I’ve been waiting for Cotton Fleece in cherry moon from Patternworks to arrive so I can finish Gigi, but IT’S STILL NOT HERE. I ordered it on May 29, and it was sent out on June 1. I know New Hampshire is pretty far from California, but surely there have been some advancements in the mailing system?!?
In the meantime, I’ve been working on the Oh What a Relief T from Rebecca #22. I’m knitting it with TLC Cotton Plus, a cotton/acrylic blend that cost $3.49 a skein (less 30 percent! Woohoo!). In short, a bargain, and it’s pretty nice stuff (though not the best choice for this particular design, since it doesn’t highlight the relief pattern very well. But eh, I don’t really mind). Here’s part of one side:

I have to say that Carolyn came to my rescue on this. I got utterly confused trying to decipher the instructions, so she sent me some charts that saved my life (and sanity). Hers looks great.

I don’t have any experience with Rebecca patterns, but I’m teaching a friend of mine to knit, and she’s making a simple shawl from Rebecca. The pattern is only a few paragraphs, but it’s giving me fits to try and figure it out. Do you know if they’re all that way? They’ve got some cute sweaters, but I don’t know if it’s worth it after I’ve seen this supposedly) simple little pattern. I think it must have something to do with the fact that they’re translated from German.

The pattern for a cotton cardi I’m working on is translated from Italian. The instructions are a bit … sparse. Hence, a challenge. Your tee looks lovely so far. Can’t wait to see the finished product 🙂

What a great project. I have had my eye on that pattern for a while. Little frightened by the pattern. Haven’t had much luck figuring out those Rebecca patterns even though I just love them and have as many mags as I have been able to find. Looks great and I can’t wait to see it.

Oh I’ve loved that top since the mag came out. That’s a wonderful design for your cute little figure dahlink. You’ll be quite the hottie, are you going to make a Action Hero Melissa mini to go with it?

    merci beaucoup mon amie.
i’ve gained so much weight since that photo was taken, i wonder if i can even get that sweater on over my beefy arms.
and those pants? forget it. way way way too tight now.

What a fun pattern! Carolyn’s does look great, and yours will too. I can’t wait to see it modeled.
Somehow, when you’re waiting for yarn, it’s SOO much worse than waiting for anything else, because your little fingers are a-itching’ to knit!

After reading an earlier post you had about the cotton TLC I just had to find some and try it. Currently doing the strappy tank from VK summer ’04, and for an inexpensive yarn, it looks and feels pretty good. Your rendition of the Rebecca sweater is to die for!

I am constantly annoyed at how slow the mail is here in CA compared to other states. Anything mailed at less that 1st class/priority is so sloooow interstate. I have some UK magazine subs that come from NY 4th class (magazine rate) and they can take up to 4 weeks to get here. (I think the pony express was quicker!) According to this and other companies I have complained to, CA is a known problem mail wize. Anyway sorry for the rant on your comments and hope the mail brings your package today.

Hi Mariko, that’s going to be gorgeous! I love the cable in the raglan. Thanks for volunteering your brother to help me with the gallery. It works! If you ever have a problem with a Rebecca pattern, you can ask me, I speak German and I learned to knit on German patterns.
