off to the mountains

I’m heading into No Blog Land again. We are going backpacking and camping for a week. It should be fun, right? Anyway, we’ll be back Friday the 13th if all goes as planned.
Today I went to the Mid-State Fair for a short while. To be honest, I don’t much like going to the fair, but there was a performance I wanted to catch. I got there a bit early, so I thought I’d check out the beading demonstration that was advertised, but apparently the bead guy was a no-show! How lame. So then I went to Hot Dog on a Stick and got a lemonade and wandered over to the Home Arts building only to be confronted with a “no drinks or food” sign. Bummer. Finally I headed over to the Stampede Stage to see the performance:

Belly dancing! [Okay, confession time–I’ve been taking belly dancing for a couple of months now. I am hopelessly and laughably bad, and I fear that one day soon my teacher will throw her hands up in disgust and kick me out of class, but you know, it is really fun! It’s very hard, too, especially for the quivering-hip challenged.]
Have a great week.

I took belly dancing lessons in high school. Isn’t it loads of fun (even though you suck!) Part of me thinks that sucking makes it even more fun, because you can’t take yourself seriously. I’ve been thinking about doing it again. 😉

Mariko, you wanted to watch Devo at the fair, didn’t you. You’re post about dancing reminded me of that Friends episode where the girls take a tap dancing class and Phoebe is free-styling it while saying, “I totally get it!”

Belly dancing is so hot! Keep at it, it will come. I took Flamenco lessons in college and it was my favorite class of my entire education. Have fun camping!
