a shameless plea for help

I’ve been wanting an iPod mini for a while, but I just can’t justify spending the money on it. Well, my brother just told me about a deal where you can get a free iPod, and it’s not a scam! Here’s where I need your help. It’s one of those deals where you sign up and take advantage of some offer or another. You then have to convince 5 of your closest friends (heh) to also sign up and complete one offer, and then you (in this case, I) get a free iPod! The offers include signing up for BMG Music, Columbia House DVDs, and various charge card and other “free trial” deals. I myself opted to spend $20 at PetCare RX (since I conveniently have a dog).
So, if you would be willing to help me by taking advantage of one of these offers at freeiPods, can you please leave a comment or send me an e-mail, and I will send you my “referral link” so you can sign up. Please note that the site only works with Internet Explorer (I know, totally fascist, but if The Man is willing to give me a free iPod, well, my ideals go out the window). Here is what I can offer in return for your help: I can be a referral for you if you choose to take advantage of the offer yourself (but I can’t do this for everyone, unfortunately), OR I can send you some candy or something. In addition, I will be forever in your debt, and you will feel my love for years to come. I need 4 referrals, please!

ill be a referral! i’ve read about this all over the place. hope you find others so you can get that ipod! 🙂

  2. Insane Brother says:

Four referrals means big dumb brother is already assumed to be signing up for something stupid. Lessee, I think I’m on the lifetime ban list for Columbia House, let’s see who else I can annoy…

Sounds good to me – I’ll do it. I need some pet meds anyway.

  4. rae says:

I’ll be a referral for you but only if you return the favor! I signed up last week but haven’t been able to talk anyone into being one of my referrals.

  5. Amy S says:

I could have my arm twisted, if any of the offers are remotely interesting. Can you send me your referral number if I *might* sign up? 🙂

  6. Eklectika says:

I’ll swap referrals with you! Email me.

OK, I’m really glad enough people are willing to do this already, because me + special offers = a very bad thing. But I hope you get your free iPod! Is it the plain one, or do you get to pick a color? How exciting.

Hi! I am the person who asked you about peppermint yarn…
I am totally willing to swap referrals with you.
Oh, I’m also Gummi’s mom (our dogs are friends on Dogster).
That’s my background in relation to you. I know that everyone is saying, oh, I’ll swap referrals with you and that it’s not as nice as saying, oh I’ll be a referral, so I understand if you prefer NOT to swap!
Just let me know either way! Thanks & good luck!
One more thing, I don’t know if it’s my love of candy, or what, but you’re blog is one that I read even when I’m not into cruising around online. Actually, I think it’s because you sound so nice! Is that a weird thing to say?

I’d be glad to be a referrer if you would return the favor for me (and even if you can’t) send me the link and I’ll go check it out. My email is protected so give me a chance to approve the email and get it in my home inbox. This sounds like a great deal. My husband has an ipod but he doesn’t share well and I’d love my own.
