calling all knitblunners

Here’s an invitation for all you knitblunners out there (knitblogger + runner). The San Francisco Marathon is coming up on July 31, 2005, and a small group of us are planning to do the half-marathon. So far it’s a small group: Joanna, Becca, Rachael (though rumor has it she is trying to flake. DON’T LET HER), me, a couple of my college buddies. We’d love to have some more runners join us. Just think how much fun it will be! Breakfast afterwards (the race starts at 5:30am, so yes, we’ll be finished in time for breakfast), and hey, Artfibers is a SHORT WALK from the finish.
The race used to go over the Golden Gate Bridge, but they discontinued that several years ago. I was lucky enough to be able to run over the bridge a couple times, and it was cool. Well, the TRADITION IS BACK, so you should be tempted even more! And since I’m doing the half this year instead of the full, I will be half as smelly yet twice as perky. Now don’t you REALLY want to join us? You can even get a blackmail lovely photo taken of you!

Is there anything you CAN’T or DON’T do?!
A half marathon? Once again, I’m super impressed by the super eggplant!
    Run, girl, run.

I love the idea of being a Knitblunner but I don’t think the half marathon’s gonna happen on 7/31 for me. But I probably will ride my bike to Portland (STP) and then train to San Francisco on 7/11 (my 30th birthday!) with the bike so that will be fun. Can we ride our bikes across the bridge? That would be super fun. I haven’t been on it since I was a little girl and yes, it was summer, and yes, it was chilllllly.

Hi there-I’m signed up for the half…but I’ve really been lax about training and I’m trying to decide if I’ll even try to run it! I’m feeling heavy and slow…I’m going to try to run/walk a bit this weekend and then decide!

  4. Norma says:

Oh, how I miss the days when I was really, truly in SHAPE! This is fabulous. Have a great time!

i will so be sitting in my apartment wearing my silver blanket in your honor… 🙂

  6. Celia says:

Can knitbloggers who don’t run come to cheer you on and join you for breakfast???

  7. Mya says:

That sounds so fun, but I’m a bit behind in the training. My “exercise” is walking our dog, but my hubby says that any workout activity that you do while holding a latte doesn’t count as exercise. Anyone in the Berkeley/SF area interested in running together, starting slowly with 2-3 miles and ramping up for potential half-marathon participation?

  8. J Strizzy says:

I’m a knitblunner! I love it. My training is not going so well but I registered yesterday so I’m committed. I’m so looking forward to running right down the middle of the GG Bridge!

  9. stinkerbell says:

if I could I TOTALLY would come. I dont know if I will ever do a full marathon, but a half- that seems do able 🙂

  10. elizabeth says:

    ditto to Celia’s question…
Unless a lunatic is chasing me I don’t run. Even if there is yarn at the finish line. Can we cheer you on & breakfast with you anyway?

  11. jennie says:

oh my goodness, that sounds like so much fun! i can’t make it up to sf for the half but will be thinking of you guys! i’m training right now for the marathon in long beach this fall which has been fun…LOVE the picture of you running! they always get me when i’m making a weird face of some sort. haha keep running! 🙂 🙂

  12. Riona says:

I do! I do! But it’s too soon for me – I’m in training for the Vegas one in December – but put me down for next year! I’ll watch you gals’ progress, though – Rachael’s blog was one of the inspirations for getting me off my arse and onto the road. Good luck!
