bring me your sweets

We live in a rinky dink, hick town. In the past couple of years, however, there has been an influx of French people, and they have been bringing their culture and, very happy about this, their FOOD. In case you haven’t noticed, I am highly food motivated. Well, today a French/Mediterranean bakery/cafe opened THREE BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE. I stopped by this afternoon and picked up these:
I already ate the profiterole. It had coffee cream. The top had a dollop of coffee caramel stuff in the shape of a heart, but the girl put it in a box that was not quite tall enough, so it got smeared. I am so happy that bakery is here, and I am even happier because another French bakery is scheduled to open within the next few months!
Did y’all go see Bonne Marie’s blog today? I was so flattered and also embarrassed by all the nice things she said! She is truly a kind hearted soul!
Okay, gotta go finish the stripe on the Becky Wannabe sweater now and watch a rerun of MI-5 that I missed. I heard they annihilate Tom’s girlfriend and her daughter! Those Brits are so harsh (doncha love it?).

Hi Mariko! I just discovered your blog via Chicknits. I really like it. I linked ya so I can keep up with you. Good luck in the Becky Wannabe sweater, it’s looking good. I’ve been tempted to make that one. Have a nice weekend!

I am just as food crazed as you are…the dessert looks yummy! A while back I mentioned that I might have seen Fluff at QFC. I’ve been looking for it ever since you mentioned it on your website. I found some today and man is it good. They do sell it at QFC (Krogers in some states), it’s in the kosher aisle…they even have strawberry fluff.

Rinky dink, hick town? Boy I would kill for a French bakery in my neighborhood! The closest thing we’ve got are donut shops – they can’t compare. Watch out with the sweets though….
I find it hard to watch MI-5. It rings sometimes TOO close to the real thing. But I am glad they got rid of Tom’s girlfriend – she was getting too demanding. Sorry about that folks!

I’d like to know how Mariko and Sharyln stay so thin and trim with these food obsessions! You both stay so slim and love to eat! I know Sharyln walks a lot and is running after her son which helps burn some calories, how do you do it, Mariko. I’m a Personal Trainer who loves to hear other people’s stories of staying trim.

I have just one totally unwanted and unuseful comment : this lovely piece of French patisserie is not a profiterole, but a “religieuse au caf
