snacks

I adore snacks, and there are so many different kinds of snacks out there! In Japan Stefana introduced us to a superb Japanese snack: umai-bo. They are cheap and tasty. They are basically a cheese puff in the form of a tube.

They come in colorful packages and a variety of flavors, such as cheese, takoyaki, and mentaiko.

Peter seemed more excited about the umai-bo than anything else I brought back from Japan. I don’t know if they sell them in the United States anywhere. Has anyone out there seen them?
And I haven’t tried these yet, and I don’t even really like waffles all that much, but how could I resist?

And if you feel like making your own snacks, how about baking up some treats in the shapes of popular candy bars?

Those candybar pans are awesome!!! As if I don’t have enough pans already. My husband was giving me a hard time about “just why” i needed to buy the ice cream cone shaped pan at Williams and Sonoma the other day. He guilted me out of it…for now!

Those umai-bo look really good! Wonder if Uwajimaya carries them? I’ve bought the Lego waffles before – very cute, taste just the same as regular Eggos (no real surprise there). The boys loved them 🙂

I’ve had those umai-bo before. I liked the cheese one but the takoyaki not so much.
Love the candypans! Are they the silicon ones for baking or just candy molds?

oh my – that gigantic cheesy tube looks mighty crunchtastic 🙂 And if you eat the lego waffles, make sure you build something and take a photo to share LOL…

I love the Lego Eggos! I saw them in the store and was so tempted to buy them because they were just so cute. We just got a really fun train cake pan from Williams Sonoma, they have too many fun things. Love the candybar pans though!

That’s so funny, because some of my students JUST gave a “commercial” presentation about umai-bo. There are a lot more flavors than you might realize! I’ve never had one before but now I might have to go out and try it!

I had that chesse puff sticks when I was little in Hong Kong. Those were tasty!.
I have that Hershey’s chocolate bar cake mold. However, no matter how I grease & dist flour before baking, the Hershey’s letters never come out nicely. Maybe I used store bought cake mix, the cake was too soft.
