apple troika

The apple fest continues! Action Hero Melissa was telling me about some apple corduroy she got at Fabric Depot. I saw a photo of it and decided I needed some, too. That same day I went to Amy‘s to help with mailorder (I was really there for the chocolate cake and coffee). When I was leaving, I spotted the very same apple corduroy in a different colorway placed casually on a chair. I exclaimed that I was going to get the same fabric the following day. Turns out Amy had made a really cute top with the corduroy. So anyway, I went to Fabric Depot and planned to get the green apple corduroy, but that Melissa had bought most of it, so I got the Amy colorway. Amy made the cute top, Melissa made a really cute jacket, and I made a dress.

I got the pattern in Japan, and behold, it fits (though it’s hard to tell what the dress really looks like from the photo). I will probably make the short-sleeve version of this dress for summer, since it’s really quite comfy (and maybe a bit frumpy, but that’s okay). Now, would you like to hear some of Peter’s comments?
– “Is that going to be your new style?”
– “I’m just trying to understand it.”
– “It looks like something a polygamist’s wife would wear.”
– “That’s not really your typical zipperneck Zira style.” (Peter thinks I only wear zippernecks, and he also thinks I dress like Zira from Planet of the Apes.)

Peter is soooo right about this one!!! Zira…now that’s funny. I told you that Steven is/was real life friends with her right?!

Is there a way we can get Peter and Katsura meet? Just to let them console each other, I mean.. My husband is quite scandalized by my choice of colours lately (quote: “Maybe you shouldn’t use that baby quilt outside.. ?”)

I like it! I love the fabric! 🙂

Pssh, that is totally Marc Jacobs/Miu Miu! He just doesn’t get it.
I suffer the same creative commentary about the get-ups I put together which are usually dubbed “bag lady-esque” with a hint of “bat shit crazy”. I think handmade outfits should be exempt from this process.

Once again, Peter is totally cracking me up. I’ve been seeing that awesome apple fabric all over the Internet, and I *love* it. A whole dress of it is AWESOME.

My husband informed me recently that my favourite summer sundresses were embarassingly shapeless. It came right out of the blue, he’s not usually like that so he must have felt very strongly about it, but there’s no way I’m giving them up.
You wear them apples with pride, girl!

I think you should cross stitch these Peter-isms on little samplers and frame them around the house. Really, he’s hilarious. Polygamists wife indeed…

You either need to start sewing more clothes, or you need to start posting random photos of people and get Peter to comment on them. That’s good stuff.
