I am a good citizen

deeds on new bed.JPG
Melissa made Deedle this lovely bed for the warehouse. Deedle is testing it out on our couch (please ignore the gross towelket* under the lovely bed). I was really touched that Melissa made this bed, because the gal is not particularly crazy for dogs. You can see that Deedle loves it, and she will love resting on it at the warehouse if she is allowed to go to the warehouse. Our landlord is being kind of a stickler about the rules, and now that we are in he is insisting that Deedle obtain the Canine Good Citizen certificate in order to be allowed on the premises. I checked the lease, though, and it says “good citizen” in quotes like that, nothing about the whole AKC affiliation. So, I’m going to push my luck, because a) I don’t think she can pass the CGC test, and b) nobody messes with my dog.
So superbuzzy is having its first-ever sale, so I hope you will all go take a look. We also got a ton of new fabrics, including some very cute little animal twills and new colors of the kerchief girl fabric. There are some good books as well, especially the ones for kids, and for you patchwork enthusiasts, I think “My Patchwork Time” is quite nice.
Now I am off for the next few days to parts unknown (okay, to Crater Lake). The Hedster and I are going to run the Crater Lake Rim Run Marathon, which should be an adventure. We’re just doing it as a training run, and today we decided we don’t even care if we finish. It’s on my birthday, and I don’t particularly want to kill myself on my birthday. I was in bed all day today with a raging migraine (which did make me want to kill myself), so it’s not like I’m 100%, anyway. I am rambling. Is this what migraine meds do to you?
*In Japan they have these awesome things called “towelkets,” which as you might guess is a combination between a towel and a blanket. They are GREAT for sweaty summer sleeping. You can use them as sheets and as blankets. Those Japanese, so clever.

OMG!! I grew up with towelkets! We didn’t have A/C in our house growing up in San Jose, and the summers are hot. We totally used towelkets and I always felt slightly embarrassed about them because we were the only Japanese family I knew, and therefore had them. Thanks for bringing back an old memory, and for making me feel (retrospectively) like less of a freak.

i’ve used towelkets since high school and each of my kids have their own. nowdays it’s hard to find and it’s so darned expensive, but our japanese discount store (used to be ‘daiei’ now is ‘don quijote’-‘don qui’ for short – sounds like ‘donkey’…)carries them from time to time and has them on sale every now and then. btw, i love deedle’s cushion….

Aw, Deedle looks like she loves her bed. Silly landlord making her take a test.
Happy birthday! Have a good time at your run.

  10. Sharon says:

Deedle looks so comfy on her bed…..I think your landlord is being totally over the top with the test. Mind you we got persuaded into putting our manic terries through the KC good citizen programme….and to our shock they passed although I think we were bottom of the class by a long way! And we did become the weekly entertainment at the classes!

I have no idea really what I paid…….I think around 50 or so dollars, wow, which is a great deal. I love your blog and am a regular lurker:)

    Happy Birthday Super Eggplant!

  15. Nice bed for Deedle.
Congrats on the superbuzzy sale and the arrival of Ikea. I like going there. My son loves the kids order of meatballs with gravy and lingonberries. I would have loved to go to the Crayfish Feast they are having there; just sounds different.

I miss towelkets! I haven’t owned one since my childhood one finally shredded after too many washings right before I went to college.
