Well, it has been a dreadfully long time! I have excuses, but they are lame. I am working on getting my act together, but I am not holding my breath.
I love Carolyn. She went to Belgium and actually brought me back macarons! Unfortunately, they did not travel particularly well:
The kitchen is pretty much complete, but I haven’t taken any photos, nor have I unpacked anything. In fact, we still haven’t located our pots and pans, so I still can’t really cook. This is when we were on the home stretch and a day before Peter’s parents arrived for a visit:
We also had insulation blown into our upstairs area. It’s this crazy stuff called Icynene, and it is pretty high tech but messy:
My aunt, her sister-in-law, and a family friend are visiting from Japan, but between our own visitors and superbuzzy, I hadn’t had a lot of time to hang out with them. Today, though, I spent some quality US time with them:
Lucky girl to have a beautiful new kitchen, though it must have been difficult to go without one for so long. You and Peter have been working very hard. Yay you!
What kind of counters and floor did you go with? I like those beautiful and simple wood cabinets.
is that your mom on the right? or your aunt? whoever it is looks adorable. that macaroon picture is making me cry dude. seriously.
mariko, your aunt and her SIL look so very very Japanese!!!
do you speak much Japanese???????
Your family is so much more fun than mine! Mine would never wear paper hats and take cute pix…
Macaroon crumbs are more than I got from Belgium (I know you’re reading this Carolyn)…
straight uphill then downhill? sounds pretty bad but at least it wasn’t the other way around.
i’m happy to see the update. can’t wait to see what gets whipped up in that new kitchen!
I have maybe an odd question, did you happen to dip down into CA and Lassen National Park on your trip to Crater Lake?
I’ll have to tip my husband onto that marathon – he loves marathons, Crater Lake and hills. Hmmm.
here it is – the victory sign again! the ladies look very nice!
Oh, those poor macarons!
Oh Crater Lake is gorgeous! Did you know the water is so clean you can drink it right from the lake? We hiked own and took the boat to Wizard Island and then hiked to the top of it.
I want to pitch a tent at the very top center of that island paradise. You lucky girl!
Looks like you and your family had a good time at Krispy Kreme. One day I hope to introduce my family to my many cousins, aunts and uncles in Japan. Hope you have a productive week!!!
