whoah

Well, it has been a dreadfully long time! I have excuses, but they are lame. I am working on getting my act together, but I am not holding my breath.

Crater Lake is really stunning, but nobody told me the marathon was going to be straight uphill then straight downhill. It was still fun, though, and who knew they’d have hummus and pita bread at the cafe?
I love Carolyn. She went to Belgium and actually brought me back macarons! Unfortunately, they did not travel particularly well:

The kitchen is pretty much complete, but I haven’t taken any photos, nor have I unpacked anything. In fact, we still haven’t located our pots and pans, so I still can’t really cook. This is when we were on the home stretch and a day before Peter’s parents arrived for a visit:

We also had insulation blown into our upstairs area. It’s this crazy stuff called Icynene, and it is pretty high tech but messy:

My aunt, her sister-in-law, and a family friend are visiting from Japan, but between our own visitors and superbuzzy, I hadn’t had a lot of time to hang out with them. Today, though, I spent some quality US time with them:

Lucky girl to have a beautiful new kitchen, though it must have been difficult to go without one for so long. You and Peter have been working very hard. Yay you!
What kind of counters and floor did you go with? I like those beautiful and simple wood cabinets.

straight uphill then downhill? sounds pretty bad but at least it wasn’t the other way around.

I have maybe an odd question, did you happen to dip down into CA and Lassen National Park on your trip to Crater Lake?
I’ll have to tip my husband onto that marathon – he loves marathons, Crater Lake and hills. Hmmm.

Oh Crater Lake is gorgeous! Did you know the water is so clean you can drink it right from the lake? We hiked own and took the boat to Wizard Island and then hiked to the top of it.

Looks like you and your family had a good time at Krispy Kreme. One day I hope to introduce my family to my many cousins, aunts and uncles in Japan. Hope you have a productive week!!!
