matcha shiratama

matcha shiratama.JPG

We went to a little Japanese sweets cafe in the underground in Osaka somewhere and had this matcha shiratama. I don’t really know how to describe it. The matcha part is kind of gooey, sorta kinda like the thickness of peanut butter. The shiratama are the little white balls, and they, too, are a little gooey, but they are more solid than the matcha part. Anyway, it was one of the most delicious things I ate in Japan. I would love a recipe for this, but really, I don’t know if my body could take it (since it would be fed this on a daily basis).
I didn’t take many photos in Japan, but the ones I did take are here. I know, I suck. I didn’t even take photos of Molly or Jen!

Shiratama is very easy to make!!! We made it at preschool a couple of months back and ate it with anko and fruit from tins. I can`t remember the exact recipie but if you want it I can pull it out of the file at school and email it to you!
I am not sure about the Matcha part though!

  6. Thanks for the photos! Okonomyaki! You had okonomyaki?! How I wish I could find a place in the Seattle area that serves that so I wouldn’t have to make it at home or drive up to Vancouver B.C. for it. Oh, it looks so delicious!

Wow. I am impressed. You wouldn’t think a bowl of of white lumps sitting in green goo could look attractive and appealing, but those are lovely… I would TOTALLY snack on that.
