Is this the cutest thing you’ve ever seen or what?
orange sony.gif
Unfortunately, i’ts only a 2 megapixel camera, and it’s only available in Japan (when I told my brother I wanted it anyway, he told me the instructions and the menu would be in Japanese, and I would be a moron if I purchased it).
I’ve been looking around and researching various 3-megapixel digital cameras. In addition to the Sony DSC P7, I like the Nikon Coolpix 3100, the Pentax Optio S, and maybe the Canon PowerShot S230 Digital Elph. Whatever it is, it must be very compact and, of course, cute (otherwise, what’s the point?).
No button yet from MJ Trim. Can’t finish SitCom Chic without it.

Sew fun

Lookey what I sewed today! bag purse.jpg
I’ve been needing a bag a bit larger than my current tiny purse, so this should come in handy.
I also made a couple of salads–a potato salad and a weird salad comprised of leftover crudit

a pleasant day at the coast

The Hedster & I went for a nice long run in Cambria. Afterwards we had a humongous sandwich and coffee before heading to the Ball & Skein & More. I bought two sets of circular needles (including my very first set of Addi Turbos) so I can attempt to knit a pair of socks using the toe-up method on 2 circular needles. I also received a bonus ballpoint pen that has the store name on it. The pen lights up in red when you twist the top! Very cool.
Hedi’s dog Oji is feeling much better after a terrible nose infection.

I came home to 105-degree weather and proceeded to finally stitch up the underarm seams to the SitCom Chic sweater. Now I just have to lightly block it and wait for my button to arrive.

I feel so dirty

I am now part of the problem! cellphone.jpg
This is no longer a cellphone-free environment. Sigh. We’re on the Verizon “free up” prepaid call plan which we signed up for at Radio Shack. I rather like our local Radio Shack. It is very messy, and the guys who work there are kind of squishy and usually have food stains on their rumpled shirts. Anyway, back to the phone. I thought it would be convenient for when we go on vacation. This way we can keep in touch with the folks and keep tabs on Deedle the dog. Peter is all hot to take the phone on his boat. I suppose it will come in handy, but I still don’t like it. If I ever talk on that thing while driving, I hope someone will throw tomatoes at me.
There are two hot dogs hot dogs.jpg
passed out on my floor right now. It’s in the 100s. It’s tough to get inspired to knit when it is so blazing hot. Of course, I can’t really complain, since we have air conditioning.

Thar she is

Here she is in all her glory:
solo aft.jpg
So Peter went out sailing today and had a wonderful time. I’ll have to get out there soon. This boat is supposed to be more stable than the last one, so maybe I won’t hurl.
I realized that this site is mostly supposed to be about knitting and sewing and other crafty pursuits, but I haven’t discussed those subjects very much. Oh well, it’s not like the 2 of you out there looking at this really care, right?
Barking dogs–we are dogsitting for a few days, and it is very odd to have a normal, big, barking dog. It made us realize how psycho our little dog is.

Crazy Japanese novelty items

I love novelty items, particularly those from Japan. Check out my Coron:

It winds up and dances! You can move its arms around, too. I want to get the whole collection one of these days. Check out the video of these items here.
The boat was launched today without incident! She’s in the water at Avila Beach. I’d post a photo, but I don’t have one because I didn’t go down there! I should have one soon.

iced tea

So it’s finally starting to get warm again, so I made a batch of iced tea using Peet’s Summer House Iced Tea bags. It is so delicious, and I am really not much of an iced tea person! I usually make mugicha, a Japanese barley tea that is delicious cold.

On another note, I went searching for a button for my SitCom Chic sweater yesterday. I bought a button, but it’s not that outstanding. Since SCC uses only ONE button, that button has to be a standout. I ordered one online from MJ Trim. With the $5.95 shipping, the button ended up costing more than $10. Gulp. I hope it’s beautiful.

I threw away the rest of the Jell-O Crown Jewel Dessert because it started getting watery and scary. It went down the garbage disposal and looked like something Toucan Sam would vomit. It was tasty, though (not while it was in the sink, but you know, before).

Here’s a random photo of Dede drinking from a bucket. She likes to rough it!

Sad Jell-O, Happy Boat

So I was all excited about making this delightful Jell-O dessert. It was supposed to look like this,
jello book.jpg
but it ended up looking like this!
sad jello.jpg

It does taste yummy, though. I think I let the lemon Jell-O and pineapple juice portion chill too long before mixing in the whipped cream, and that is why it didn’t quite gel.

On another note, Peter is planning to put the sailboat into the water this coming week. He has been working on the thing in our backyard for a couple years now, going over every square inch of it. As you can see,
boat.jpg
she is looking mighty fine (she’s come a LONG way). Oh dear, please ignore the weeds.

It’s rainin’ yarn!

Hedi gave me some lovely yarn
hedi yarn.jpg
that she got at the Braid Box in Saratoga, CA. We then went to a going-out-of-business sale at a local yarn store. Everything was 50 percent off. While we were bummed that all the Addi Turbo and Clover needles were gone daddy gone, we scored some nice yarn! Here’s what I got:
yarn score.jpg
We also went to the bookstore to look at travel books for our trip back east this summer. Unbeknownst to us non-hipsters, the newest Harry Potter book was released today, so we ran into a few cloaked children. I decided to buy a copy. It was 40 percent off, and I want to read it, anyway.

I am sooo happy!!!

Today I was excused from jury duty! Yippee! I was getting very, very nervous about it, actually. The week began with 127 potential jurors, and we were down to about 25, and it was not looking good. They managed to select a jury right after lunch, but then they had to select 4 alternates! Well, I was potential alternate #1. The four potential alternates had to go in the jury box, but we got asked very few questions, which I took to be a bad sign. The prosecution dismissed the lady sitting next to me, so I was feeling doomed until the second round, when the defense attorney dismissed me! Yay! I don’t know if it was the novelty T-shirt I was wearing or my beautiful new shoes shoes.jpg, but whatever it was, I am grateful.
By the way, my husband looked at this page and asked me who Justin Timberlake is and whether I liked him. It’s kind of scary how much power and control my crazy brother has over this page.
